The mission of the Utilities Committee is to provide advice and assistance to the chapter on matters related to the acquisition, use, management, or disposal of rights of way for the utility industry, including but not limited to, gas, electric, power, steam, cable TV, communications, data, water, sewer, and drain lines. The Committee shall monitor legislation or changes in legislation, methods, or practices pertaining to any matters affecting utility rights of way.
The functions of this committee are:
- To study and report on concepts, practices, policies, and procedures relating to the acquisition, development, management, or disposition of rights of way for utilities, whether for public or private use, and for whatever purpose.
- To study and report on general and specific problems relating to the use, or multi-use, of rights of way by public and/or private facilities together with special attention to areas of coordination, cooperation, and advanced planning in the effective use of rights of way for utilities.
- To promote and encourage persons, schools, and other organizations to participate with it in research and development of policies and procedures related to interagency cooperation in recognition of the diverse needs of the utilities industry.
